A Voice From the Wall

A visit to the Vietnam Memorial Wall
A voice came from the wall:
“I was a boy, in search of meaning,
Not yet allowed in bars
Yet old enough, they said, to kill and die.
They said it was my duty
My country’s call.
If honoring me
Is why you are here
I have a plea
Help make this world
A gentler place
Where boys grow up
And don’t become its prey”
