Arts Benicia presents Drop by Drop, A Brief History of Benicia Water through the Eyes of Its Artists, a group exhibition of artworks by Benicia artists, in joint partnership with and hosted by the Benicia Historical Museum.
The exhibition highlights the history of water in Benicia from its founding as a deep-water port in 1848 to its present-day identity as a waterfront town. The exhibition will explore sub-themes ranging from aesthetics and the exploration of our sense of place on the Carquinez Strait to the more critical observation of general water usage, public need, associated infrastructure developments, the effects of drought and flooding, and an eye toward future sustainability.
Participating artists: Nikki Basch-Davis, Carol Dalton, Larnie Fox, Bodil Fox, Linda Grebmeier, Marilyn Schaeffer, Lee Wilder Snider, Stephen Schumm, and Scott Zoog. The exhibition features paintings, sculpture, photography, mixed media assemblage, and a “re-imagined” rain barrel.
Drop by Drop is supported by a grant from the Benicia Community Sustainability Commission. Arts Benicia is grateful for the Commission’s generous support.
