For 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders who like to build, sculpt, paint, draw, and collage!
Arts Benicia’s annual EcoArt Camp is more than just a summer camp. It’s an eco-friendly free-range artistic experience. While discovering their own creativity, students will develop respect for resources and learn about the importance of recycling reusuable products and reducing consumption of disposable products in everyday life. EcoArt camp sessions are sure to stimulate and nurture the creative expression of our next generation of conscientious artists.
Sessions from EcoArt Camp 2017 are described below.
SESSION 1: TINKERING & MORE (July 17-21, 2017)
Instructor Christina Meister
Let’s build stuff! Kids will create their own unique three-dimensional works of art while learning about basic tools, simple machines, construction techniques, and building with recycled materials and upcycled found objects.
Christina has taught tinkering through the Exploratory Wheel program offered at elementary schools throughout the Benicia Unified School District and currently teaches at Robert Semple.
SESSION 2: ART MASHUP (July 24-28, 2017)
Instructor Pat Hall
Go on a drawing and painting adventure in this workshop! Kids will strengthen their knowledge of color, shape, line, and perspective while using a variety of media to create works of art, including cartoons, superheroes and visual stories.
Pat is a longtime teacher in the Benicia Unified School District and has been teaching art to middle school students for many years. She believes everyone can develop confidence and find inspiration to grow as an artist when given the right tools.
