Class description: Spend a meditative afternoon learning the ancient art of SUMINAGASHI. This technique comes from 9th century Japan. Examples of Suminagashi are considered the oldest form of paper marbling. ”Floating ink“ is delicately placed on water and printed off the surface onto paper to create beautiful and unusual patterns of harmony. The process takes concentration and patience as ring after ring of ink is placed into the water. It is a hypnotic and calming process to do and results in papers of astounding natural beauty, each unique and mysterious.
