Class Description: Join Erin for this workshop exploring one color through the medium of collage. We will be making single-color abstract collages with a variety of different papers. For instance, if you are interested in exploring the color yellow, bring all the yellow papers and fabric you have on hand. You will discuss colors that play with your selected color. You can add to, and enhance your single-color collage with a variety of collage materials that will be available. Erin will lay out a rainbow of colorful papers to select from and students are invited to add their own papers to any of the colorful piles. Time permitting, you may want to start with or end with a collage rainbow using the collage materials provided.
Materials: Students should bring the following materials.
Paper options to work on: Watercolor paper, mixed media weight paper, sketchbook, or loose paper
Collage materials: A single color of art experiments, scrap paper, thin fabrics, postcards, maps, magazines, color swatches – anything will do – bring a combination of things and try to have some solid color paper as well as patterned or printed papers. Think of colors that will be fun to try out or maybe a color that you don’t usually use. This is really up to you!
Erin will have additional collage materials available for your use and feel free to bring extra materials to share.
Glue: Archival glue stick or glue you apply with a brush like Mod Podge, gel medium, Yes! Paste, Nori paste. The glue will be discussed, so please feel free to use what you have for the workshop and invest later in glue.
