Class description: In this introductory class you will understand and appreciate Pastel Paintings as a dynamic and immediate way to express yourself No other media offers the versatility, and power of pastels to create your vision as an artist. This class will focus on beginning and intermediate techniques.

This 4-hour session will cover:
Pastel Painting examples and styles through history
Pastel sticks: Which are the best for you?
Strokes: the building blocks of of color
Blending techniques: What you need to know!
Illuminating your vision: pastels lend themselves to capturing light!
Composition: Putting it all together
Protecting your work
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Christopher Naughton, AIA, an architect, and recently retired from leading a large health care design practice for a national architectural firm. Chris has been a practicing artist during the past 40 years earning Bachelor degrees in both architecture and Fine Arts. Chris specializes in Pastel Painting because its dynamic, immediate and fun without the traditional fuss of mixing of paints. Chris is a gifted communicator in organizing complex information is simple terms, perfect for beginners and intermediates. Chris’s work can be seen at these local galleries: the Benicia Plein Air Gallery, the Fairfield Suisun Visual Arts Association and Village 360 Winery in Fairfield Ca.
