It’s time for Spring Open Studios in the Historic Benicia Arsenal! For over 30 years, Open Studios has invited the public to visit artists studios and see their work. This year, 50 artists will be showing their work in a variety of studios in the Arsenal area. See your favorite artists and meet new ones! This festive art-filled weekend will feature painting, ceramics, jewelry, printmaking, photography, and more!
Benicia has long been known as an artist community. The Arsenal, especially, has been attracting artists and creatives for decades because of large, affordable studio spaces as well as proximity to art colleges and universities and major exhibition galleries stretching from San Francisco to Sacramento, expanding the reputation of Benicia throughout the region.
Maps will be provided for visitors to find artists located in various buildings, all part of the old U.S. Army Arsenal, along Tyler Street in the 940 Building, the 991 Building, and Lincoln and Grant Streets. Several Artists will be displaying their work at Ironhorse Home Furnishings, 990 Grant St., also located in the Arsenal. All are within walking distance.
