Arts Benicia welcomes applications from artists and galleries.
The deadline for completed applications is Friday, March 13, 2020. There are no refunds for incomplete applications.
A COMPLETED APPLICATION INCLUDES:
1. Application form (printed or online)
2. Digital image for the catalog, representative of your artwork or gallery
- File size and format: up to 2 MB: jpg only
- File resolution: at least 3″ on the long side at 300 dpi (900 pixels)
- File named: lastname_firstname_title (example: smith_jane_ViewofMarch)
- Emailed to jean@artsbenicia.org with subject line: “Open Studios”
3. Payment (Check payable to Arts Benicia, cash, Paypal, or credit card)
Email your image to jean@artsbenicia.org.
Please send your artist statement (500 words or less) as a PDF to jean@artsbenicia.org (as an attachment to email).
Fees
$85 for Arts Benicia Members
$100 for Non-Members
$125 for Galleries
The fee includes an artist or gallery listing in the catalog with one artwork image, identification on the maps, catalogs for distribution, and eligibility to exhibit one work in the Preview Exhibition.
FAQS
I don’t have a studio space. Can I participate? For artists without a local studio, Arts Benicia will try to find you a studio placement, however, it is not guaranteed.
I need a studio space. Can I reserve a studio space now and send you the payment and image later? No. Studio placements are not made without a complete application.
Can I send you the application form and pay later? No. Applications are not processed without payment.
What if I’ve made my payment, submitted my application and image and I don’t get a studio space? Arts Benicia will refund your fee payment in full.
Can I change out my image at a later time? No. Due to publication deadlines, we cannot accommodate image substitutions.
For a gallery listing, will all of the artists who are members of that gallery get a spot in the catalog and on the OS map? No. The gallery will be included in the catalog and listed on the map. If individual artists from that gallery want to have a separate entry and map listing in the catalog, they will need to pay the individual artist entry fee (for member or non-member).
How do I submit my image file? You must send a .jpg (JPEG); up to 2 MB; at least 3″ on long side at 300 dpi (900 pixels)
First, name your image file in this manner: LastName_FirstName_Title.jpg
Then send your image as an attachment to email to jean@artsbenicia.org with subject line “Open Studios”
