Class Description: We will be using a live model. I will demonstrate and teach you a variety of techniques to assist you in acquiring a likeness. We will start by blocking in the structure of the face by noting proportions, angles and the midlines. We then do an underpainting to note the value patterns of the face… placement and composition. We will learn how to make flesh tones with a simplified palette. We finally apply color as it relates to the value and structure of the face. We’ll explore techniques to insure accuracy and develop a toolbox of proven skills that will allow you to take on one of the most challenging forms of art… The Portrait!
Class tuition will include a preview video explaining the process, materials, and goals. The video will be sent upon registration.
This class will serve beginning and intermediate students, as well as emerging professional artists alike! I’ll look forward to having you join this intriguing and exciting journey!
