Dia de Los Muertos

Dia de Los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is an annual multi-day and traditionally Mexican celebration that is also celebrated in Guatemala, Ecuador, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Brazil, which honors the dead and encourages friends and families to come together to remember those they have lost. Families join together to celebrate, tell stories, and share food. It is most often celebrated with the creation of an Ofrenda (altar) that is decorated with candles, marigold flowers, food, drink, sugar skulls, and mementos that honor our loved ones. In 2025, Dia de los Muertos is observed on October 31, November 1, and November 2.

Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, 2025

1:00 – 5:00 pm each day

1 Commandant’s Lane, Benicia

We will be creating a community Ofrenda in the gallery.  The community is invited to participate by bringing an offering—memento, photo, trinket, flower — to place on the Ofrenda during gallery hours on Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1.

Sunday, November 2, 2025

Led by Mario Saucedo

Begins at 12 pm

1 Commandant’s Lane, Benicia

Community activist Mario Saucedo will lead a celebration of life ritual dedicated to our departed loved ones. After closing on November 2, personal items will be secured at the gallery to be picked up the following week.
