Creativity is the through line of Jane Yuen Corich’s life. She uses her art to reveal herself and to make sense of the world around her. She has been deeply entrenched in the world of abstract painting. The process of combining color, composition and mark-making she finds undeniably satisfying. The atmospheric character of the work can be read as an Asian sensibility that reflects a balance often found in nature. On the other hand, growing up and living in large cities of Boston, and New York City brings out the hard edges of urban landscapes.
The works presented in this exhibition were inspired by a trip to Eastern Europe. These pieces hold both the deep-seated longings of the past and the levity of a complicated future.
Jane Yuen Corich lives in the Bay area and exhibits her work locally and around the country.
