From Virginia George: “I am a Walnut Creek, California, artist. Since 2018, I have been focused exclusively on painted and found paper collage, often combining the two in my compositions. I have been highly influenced in my collage work by Mid-Century Modern artists, including Henri Matisse, Alexander Calder, and Jean Arp. Like Matisse, I consider my collage work “painting with scissors.”
As the Featured Artist in Arts Benicia Presents’ new location at Happy Life Pottery & Gallery in Benicia, CA, I have put together an exhibit of my Mid-Century Modern-inspired collages of various sizes and complexity. You can see more of my work on virginiageorgecollage.com. My work is also on Instagram @virginiageorgecollage.”
