Volunteer
Arts Benicia would not be able to accomplish all that it does without the help of many dedicated volunteers. Learn about non-profits, meet other art enthusiasts, and join the Arts Benicia community as a volunteer!
Arts Benicia offers many volunteering opportunities. You can choose between Gallery Docent, Youth Education, Exhibition Installation, Office Support, and other areas. Volunteer hours can be flexible. Past arts administration experience is not required. Arts Benicia is an equal opportunity employer. Contact info@artsbenicia.org for more information.
Are you interested in art, history, and community? The Arts Benicia Docent Program Training may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Arts Benicia volunteer Docents lead tours of gallery exhibitions and the Commanding Officer’s Quarters (COQ). Docents receive special training in the history of the COQ, insights, and observation of the art and artists on exhibit, along with effective touring techniques. Through engaging tours and participatory discussions, Docents provide an invaluable service to our visitors and community.
Applicants must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with groups of people. Docents need to be available to lead one tour per month, including on weekends, and are requested to make a one-year commitment to participate in the training.
Internship
Arts Benicia employs the assistance of undergraduate and graduate-level interns year-round. AB interns receive hands-on work experience with nonprofit arts administration, public relations, gallery operations, exhibition installation, and more. Internships are unpaid and require a minimum three-month commitment.
