Art Exploration with Lorraine Curtis

Class Description: Students will explore a variety of art concepts, projects, and media in a supportive environment that encourages imagination, creativity, and self-expression. The elements of art (line, shape, form, texture, value, color, space) will be discussed within the context of the projects. We will create using mark-making, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media projects, including but not limited to Gelli plate printing, paper marbling, bookbinding, metal work, collage, and more! All levels of experience welcome. We are artists, let’s have fun!

Lorraine Curtis is a Californian artist and founder of Art Garage Benicia. Lorraine has over two decades of experience as a teaching artist, fine artist, graphic designer, and illustrator. She attended the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cal East Bay. Lorraine is currently working on her Beautiful People series, a growing body of work of watercolor and mixed-media portraits. “Whether using watercolor, or any variety of media, my intention is to capture the unique essence and beauty of each person.” Lorraine encourages her students to trust their own process and creative journey of self-discovery.
