Class Description: Chemigrams are images made by creatively applying household substances and photographic chemicals onto light-sensitive photo paper. The results are unique, surprising, and seemingly endless depending on the materials and application techniques used. In this one-day workshop, we’ll experiment with a variety of materials including black-and-white photo chemistry, cyanotype solution, oils, waxes, jellies, vinegars, and more. We’ll also explore various application techniques and strategies to create our own one-of-a-kind prints. No previous experience is required, and this workshop is open to all skill levels. All materials are provided, but participants may choose to bring some of their own household pantry items to print with if they wish.
Notes: Bring a bag lunch and a water bottle!
Optional: Bring one non-toxic and “gooey” household substance to experiment printing with. Examples: lotion, shampoo, butter, etc.
