Paper Route: Contemporary Works on Paper explores the profound, quiet power of art’s most enduring foundation. Often relegated to a supporting role or viewed as a mere testing ground for larger concepts, paper is reexamined here as an active, vital collaborator.
This exhibition brings together a diverse array of artistic disciplines, from the fluid immediacy of watercolor and the stark precision of ink, to the layered textures of mixed media and printmaking. Unified by a single material constraint, these works reveal how the unique tooth, fiber, and weight of the paper substrate dictate the behavior of different mediums, as well as highlighting the diversity of routes artists take in their use of paper.
All 2D and 3D media accepted. 2D work may not exceed 36” in width or 72” in height, including the frame. 3D work may not exceed a 36” x 36” footprint.
