Class Description: Take a deep breath. Slow down before the holiday rush, spend a meditative time learning the ancient art of SUMINAGASHI. This technique comes from 9th century Japan. Examples of Suminagashi are considered the oldest form of paper marbling. ”Floating ink“ is delicately placed on water and printed off the surface onto paper to create beautiful patterns of natural harmony. The process takes relaxed concentration as ring after ring of ink is placed onto the water. It is a hypnotic and calming process to do and results in papers of natural beauty, each unique and mysterious.
Notes: Bring a bag lunch. Green Tea and Japanese snacks provided. All supplies will be provided
Quotes from previous classes:
“I needed a day to recharge and your class was perfect! I hope to take your class again. You created an energy that was calm and accepting for me to work at my own pace.”
“Ronna was great, she has extensive knowledge on the topic she was teaching, had our work areas organized and very patient. She provided visuals and hands on demonstrations to assist us before we got started which helps us “see” before we … actually try our hand at ink printing.
Overall just a wonderful day for me!”
