Class description: This workshop series offers a hands-on introduction to crochet for adult learners at all starting points. Participants will learn to hold a hook and yarn, build a foundation chain, and work single, half-double, and double crochet stitches. As the series progresses, participants explore hook sizing, yarn weight, reading basic patterns, and freeform crochet as an expressive, intuitive practice. No experience necessary. All supplies provided.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Karen Merriott has a BFA in painting from San Francisco Arts Institute and Digital Animation from Computer Arts Institute. Karen has worked as an international digital graphic designer, a UX designer, and a software engineer. Karen is a multi-media contemporary abstract surrealist artist who works in large format. She teaches youth programs with the Children’s Museum of Art, after-school classes, and Summer EcoArt Camp at Arts Benicia, and leads the 4th-grade Art Classes with B.U.S.D.’s STEAM Program.
