Class Description: Would you like to learn how to create a 3-dimensional fiber art piece? Maybe a colorful stand-alone sculpture, or an intriguing textile sub-structure for a unique artwork? In this class, Bodil Fox will introduce new materials that have properties beyond what is available at a fabric store. Let’s explore what these exciting materials can offer; how they work, and their unique properties. Experimentation is highly recommended.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Bodil Volmer Fox is a fiber artist, sound artist, and sculptor. She holds an MFA and BA in Art with an emphasis on textiles from San Francisco State University, an AA in Visual Communication from Shoreline Community College in Seattle, and has studied at Engelsholm Textile Højskole College, Vejle, Denmark.
She works with unusual materials such as wire, fortune cookie notes, concrete, thermoplastics, sewing threads, copper, and lampshades. She has shown her work at numerous Bay Area locations and internationally.
Collaborations with her artist/husband Larnie Fox, include “Probability 2” in Benicia; “Time Sensitive Materials” at Cricket Engine in Oakland, CA; and set design and construction for Theatre of Yugen’s “Cycle Plays”, San Francisco, CA.
Bodil is a member of the new music groups “The Crank Ensemble”, “Contraption Quartet”, and sings alto for the Golden Gate Symphony Chorus.
Originally from Denmark, she now lives in Benicia.
