Class Description: Stitch, loop, and create! In this 4-week fiber arts class, young artists will learn the basics of hand embroidery while making a colorful stitched sampler. Students will explore several beginner stitches and watch their skills grow week by week. This relaxed, hands-on class builds focus, fine-motor skills, and creative confidence—no experience needed, just curiosity and imagination.

Karen Merriott has a BFA in painting from San Francisco Arts Institute and Digital Animation from Computer Arts Institute. Karen has worked as an international digital graphic designer, UX designer as well as a software engineer. Karen is a multi medium contemporary abstract surrealist artist who works in large format. She teaches youth programs with the Children’s Museum of Art, after school classes and Summer EcoArt Camp at Arts Benicia and leads the 4th grade Art Classes with B.U.S.D.’s STEAM Program.
