Ask almost any artist how long they’ve been making art, and many will respond that they have been active artists since they could hold a crayon, colored pencil or paint brush. Arts Benicia and local schools have collaborated to bring that art out of the classrooms and houses and into the gallery for the entire community to see with the Next Generation exhibition. The Next Generation features the art work of children residing or attending school in Benicia, ages K-8. Students attending Joe Henderson, Mary Farmar, Robert Semple, Matthew Turner, Saint Dominic’s and Benicia Middle School as well as independent groups have art included in the exhibition. This exhibition is not only a celebration of the power and integrity of children’s art, but an opportunity for so many young artists and their work to be recognized.

The Next Generation is dedicated to Madeline Seely, Benicia Middle School student and artist, who loved art and passed away unexpectedly in 2010.
