Class Description: In this class, we will be making jewelry out of paper using acrylics to paint, foils, printed papers, hand and machine sewing, glueing, die and hand cutting, and manipulation of papers. Make your own adornment creation with painted and manipulated papers. They will be unique, your own, and complemented. You will learn to turn papers into jewels.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Dorothy Yuki graduated from Sacramento State College 1964. Owner and creative director for In Good Company, manufacturing in San Francisco – gift and linen goods until 1977, supplying Macy’s USA, William/Sonoma, military exchanges worldwide, and many others. 1974, a recipient of Women in Business award by NOW, WellsFargo and Asian Inc. 1977, I was asked to be the Design and Production Consultant for San Francisco Fashion Industries. I consulted with many identity companies, Winterland Production, Bill Graham, and Axent. Worked on special projects with Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Francis Ford Coppola and many others. I was a master Educator for San Francisco Fashion Incubator, worked and taught with Ruth’s Table, SCRAP-sf, Creative Reuse, Artseed, PenWAG, Santa Cruz fiber art guild, Sacramento Women’s guild, Aya Art Studio Florida, Society for Calligraphy Los Angeles, Member and Past President of Friends of Calligraphy, San Francisco Center for the Book, Letterform Archive, J-Sei, and Groupo Sierra Gorda Mexico. I have exhibited at Marin Museum of Contemporary Art and received 3 honorable mentions for pieces for the Altered Book shows. Also exhibited for Friends of Calligraphy’s Kalligraphia, Pence Gallery Davis and at Filoli. I was asked to be a judge at the San Mateo County Fair calligraphy art exhibit 2025. I am always learning and love to teach.
