March 7 – 24, 2013
Opening Reception: Sunday, March 10, 3:00-5:00 PM
Presentation by Arts Educators Susan Bunch and Susan Watts: Thursday, March 14, 7:00-8:30 PM
Ms. Bunch and Ms. Watts have taught many years in Benicia Unified Elementary Schools and have both helped introduce arts-related programs into the curriculum. Ms. Watts wrote and secured several grants for the District and Ms. Bunch was instrumental in integrating an art enrichment program, taught by volunteers, in the elementary curriculum. Both women have diligently worked years to ensure, despite budget cuts, that art remains an integral part of our local elementary schools.
Family Art Day: Sunday, March 17, 1:00-3:00 PM
Arts Benicia supports the talent of the Next Generation of artists with this exhibition of artwork created by Benicia students. The work of students ranging from seniors in high school through Kindergarteners will be displayed in this diverse representation of creative expression. Participants will come from private and pubic schools and afterschool programs.
This celebration of youth creativity began in 1996 at Arts Benicia with great support from the community. After a long hiatus Executive Director Larnie Fox revived the program in 2010. This is grand collaborative effort between the educational leaders of our community, their students, families and Arts Benicia. This is an opportunity for Benicia’s youth to gain awareness of their artistic possibilities as well as to professionally highlight their talents.
